Starting a church was not a thought in our minds when we moved to Zebulon 8 years ago. We both grew up in church, loved God, and felt a call to ministry but did not know what form that would take. Then after 23 years of marriage, God let us know clearly that it was time for us to step out in faith and plant a church in the town we had grown to love. Out of that came New Day Church, which was started in June 2024 in a small room we rented in downtown Zebulon with just a handful of people. It was and is our passion to have people that do not know Christ come to know Him in a living relationship, to see people gathered together to worship God, to see lives and bodies healed, to see people come to know their true purpose in life (to follow and love Christ), and to see lives changed forever.
Worship at New Day
Tammie, Maya, and Cara make up the unique family worship team at New Day. Tammie began to sing in church when she was about 8 years old, and Maya and Cara followed the same path starting at about the same age. Maya, our keyboard player/singer, is continuing her music education in college and is a lover of snacks. Cara, our guitarist/singer, is a 10th grade homeschool student and is trying to survive Algebra with her mom.
Leading worship is something that comes naturally for us since we have three singers in our family and have sung together in church for many years. God blessed us with a love for music and a desire for people to feel God’s presence when we share that music with them. We long to bring a worship experience to New Day in which people worship in spirit and in truth together. It’s not about flashiness in a performance or perfection, but it’s all about expressing our love and devotion unashamedly to God.
